Intermediate Protection & Control Technologist

Responsibilities

• Perform programming, testing, and verification of protection & control devices in the field
• Inspect, test, operate, and troubleshoot AC & DC control and protection wiring schematics
• Perform field testing, verification, and programming of IEDs (SEL, GE Multilin, GEC Alstom, Siemens, Square D, ABB)
• Maintain or commission power distribution equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, and HV switches
• Read and interpret electrical AC & DC schematics, logic diagrams, and SLDs
• Coordinate day-to-day job functions including safety compliance and resource availability
• Report and process electrical test information according to standard practices

Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of experience in Protection & Control (P&C)
• 2-year Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree
• Registered or eligible to register with ASET or APEGA
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Ability and willingness to travel 70-80% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with industry-specific codes and standards (AESO, AUEC, IEEE, and NETA)
• Technical leadership capabilities
