Intermediate Distribution Lines Engineer, Power

Responsibilities

• Develop designs for a wide range of utility projects, from small customer requests to large-scale system reconfigurations.
• Apply engineering calculations to prepare design packages for overhead and underground power distribution systems.
• Design and analyze distribution systems using specialized modeling software.
• Perform quality reviews of design deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with CSA standards and utility practices.
• Support equipment sizing, material specification, and the preparation of construction documentation.
• Coordinate closely with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Conduct site visits and provide technical support during the construction phase of projects.
• Manage project estimates, schedules, bids, and engineering support tasks.

Requirements

• Engineering degree and P.ENG in Ontario (or being in the near final stages of licensure).
• 5 to 10 years of experience in distribution line design (4 kV–35 kV) for overhead and underground systems.
• Proficiency with distribution modelling, structure analysis tools, and CAD/drafting interfaces.
• Exposure to non-linear powerline design software such as PLS-CADD or SPIDAcalc.
• Strong familiarity with CSA standards, utility construction practices, grounding, clearances, and load calculations.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, environmental, and planning disciplines.
