About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform directed and independent research focusing on neuroimmune mechanisms in HIV-associated neurological disorders.
  • Devise and implement in vitro studies and in vivo studies involving rodents and infectious agents.
  • Execute laboratory techniques including ELISA, Western blot, PCR, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and plaque assays.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and organization, ensuring compliance with risk management requirements.
  • Manage laboratory waste disposal and maintain inventory of reagents, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, stock solutions, and media for bacteria and virus host cells.
  • Maintain host cell lines and viral pathogen stocks.
  • Perform behavioral tests, animal handling, injections, and tissue sample collection.
  • Maintain detailed experimental notes, analyze data, and prepare results for publication, posters, or presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biological sciences (e.g., biochemistry, medical biology, immunology, or microbiology).
  • Experience in laboratory research and data collection.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and presentation.
  • Knowledge of general biosafety practices.
  • Experience with administrative laboratory duties, such as ordering supplies and maintaining records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of relevant experience in a laboratory research setting.
