Interim Care Residential Worker

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and mentorship to children and young people (ages 9-14) in a residential care setting
• Create a safe, homelike environment that supports children in developing life skills and problem-solving abilities
• Help young people navigate complex pain-based trauma behaviours with empathy and compassion
• Support children in building appropriate and positive relationships with others
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care when required
• Maintain an understanding of the importance of family and kinship connections for children in placement

Requirements

• Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced childhood trauma, disability, or exhibit pain-based behaviours
• Ability to build positive relationships with youth through active engagement and visible interest
• Availability to work a roster that includes afternoon, overnight (sleepover), and weekend shifts
• Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate
• Current driver’s licence
• Ability to clear probity checks, including National Criminal History, NSW Working with Children Check, and NSW Residential Care Workers Register check
