About the role

About the Company

A1 is building a proactive smart assistant for everyday users to bring intelligence to conversations, errands, organizing, and workflows. The mission is to create high-reliability AI-native applications that handle multi-step reasoning and real-world task completion with minimal prompting.

Responsibilities

  • Design detailed interaction models for AI-driven flows, including initiation, monitoring, pausing, and correcting multi-step tasks
  • Define interaction states for AI interfaces such as idle, thinking, acting, uncertain, and recovered
  • Design human-in-the-loop controls for reviewing AI decisions and overriding actions
  • Create interaction patterns for delegation, approval, correction, and reversibility
  • Develop detailed interaction specifications, annotated flows, and prototypes for engineering handoff
  • Collaborate with product and ML teams to translate system constraints into usable patterns
  • Test designs with real users to identify friction or distrust caused by AI behavior
  • Contribute to a shared library of HCI interaction patterns

Requirements

  • Experience as an interaction designer or senior UX designer with deep interaction design expertise
  • Ability to design at the micro level, including states, transitions, and edge cases
  • Strong prototyping skills in Figma or equivalent tools
  • Systematic thinking to map complex AI behavior into coherent interaction logic
  • Clear understanding of HCI principles like user control, transparency, and feedback
  • Experience working closely with engineers for implementation
  • Comfort designing for non-deterministic systems where behavior varies across sessions
  • Strong judgment regarding user guidance, interruptions, and confirmation prompts
