About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the commissioning planning, execution, and integration for a growing portfolio of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar projects.
- Develop commissioning plans, procedures, and sequencing strategies, coordinating across engineering, construction, and operations teams.
- Manage the full commissioning scope, including pre-functional testing, energization, performance verification, and final acceptance.
- Perform detailed BESS integration mapping for control systems, power conversion systems (PCS), battery management systems (BMS), EMS, and SCADA.
- Identify and assess technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and maintain schedules aligned with project milestones.
- Provide technical oversight of third-party contractors and vendors to ensure safety compliance and technical accuracy.
- Troubleshoot system issues during commissioning and validate performance to ensure operational readiness for asset management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in engineering or commissioning.
- Proven experience leading the commissioning of battery energy storage systems (BESS) and grid-integration testing.
- Deep understanding of electrical and control system integration, sequencing, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to collaborate with EPCs, vendors, and utilities.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with utility-scale solar commissioning.
- Proficiency in risk analysis and project scheduling within a fast-paced environment.
Benefits
- Annual base salary ranging from $130,000 to $190,000, depending on title and experience.
- Variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus.
