Integrated Vegetation Management Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys to assess vegetation health, growth patterns, and potential risks to infrastructure
• Use mechanical, chemical, and biological control methods to manage vegetation and prevent overgrowth
• Apply herbicides and other treatments to control invasive species
• Maintain accurate records of management activities, including treatment areas and products used
• Operate specialized equipment such as herbicide sprayers, chainsaws, brush cutters, and trucks
• Collect and interpret vegetation population data to monitor control efficacy
• Perform physically strenuous duties in varying terrains and weather conditions

Requirements

• B.C. Pesticide Applicator Certification (5 year) or provincial equivalent
• Valid Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract
• Provincially relevant First Aid certification
• Physical fitness to work in rough terrain and varying weather conditions
• Ability to work away from home for shifts and travel regularly for work
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug testing for safety-sensitive positions

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Natural Resources, Forestry, or Environmental science
• One year of experience in vegetation management
• Ability to identify invasive plant species
• Proficiency in using a chainsaw
