About the role

Responsibilities

  • Receive and document reports of child abuse and neglect within Erie County.
  • Conduct investigations, including face-to-face interviews with family members, witnesses, and professionals.
  • Perform safety assessments and create safety plans to ensure children are in secure environments.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other professionals and services to support client families.
  • Petition the Court for detention or adjudication and testify at hearings as required.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office on joint investigations.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all client contacts in compliance with state regulations and agency policy.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions, peer group meetings, and ongoing professional training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Welfare or a related field.
  • Completion of at least 12 credits in Sociology, Psychology, Social Welfare, or other related Social Sciences.
  • Experience in Social Casework (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Must obtain and maintain Pennsylvania criminal clearance, Child abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
