Intake Specialist Trainee

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of child abuse and neglect within Erie County
• Conduct investigations of child abuse referrals, including face-to-face interviews with family members and professionals
• Perform safety assessments and create safety plans to ensure children are in secure environments
• Provide information and referral services to callers and client families
• Petition the Court for detention, adjudication, or aggravated circumstances when necessary
• Prepare and testify at detention and adjudication hearings
• Collaborate with law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office on joint investigations
• Maintain thorough documentation of all client contacts in compliance with state regulations and agency policy

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Welfare or a related field
• Completion of at least 12 credits in Sociology, Psychology, Social Welfare, or other related Social Sciences
• 6 months of experience as a County Caseworker I or completion of the County Social Casework Intern Program
• Ability to provide Pennsylvania criminal and child abuse clearances
• Ability to provide FBI fingerprint clearance
