About the role

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive first point of contact for young people, families, and carers
  • Conduct intake assessments, mental state examinations, and risk assessments
  • Deliver brief intervention and single session therapy using evidence-informed approaches
  • Manage and coordinate care pathways, from assessment through referral and follow-up
  • Advocate for young people by liaising with families, schools, employers, and external services
  • Present clinical assessments at intake meetings and reviews
  • Develop and facilitate therapeutic groups to respond to service needs
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with headspace and Each requirements
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to shared learning and care

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or a related field
  • Experience conducting intake, assessment, and risk assessment with young people
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and youth mental health
  • Experience using evidence-informed therapeutic approaches

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in youth mental health or community-based settings
  • Experience facilitating groups or community-based programs
  • Understanding of culturally safe and inclusive practice
  • Interest in early intervention and brief therapeutic approaches
