About the role
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming and inclusive first point of contact for young people, families, and carers
- Conduct intake assessments, mental state examinations, and risk assessments
- Deliver brief intervention and single session therapy using evidence-informed approaches
- Manage and coordinate care pathways, from assessment through referral and follow-up
- Advocate for young people by liaising with families, schools, employers, and external services
- Present clinical assessments at intake meetings and reviews
- Develop and facilitate therapeutic groups to respond to service needs
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with headspace and Each requirements
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to shared learning and care
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or a related field
- Experience conducting intake, assessment, and risk assessment with young people
- Knowledge of adolescent development and youth mental health
- Experience using evidence-informed therapeutic approaches
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in youth mental health or community-based settings
- Experience facilitating groups or community-based programs
- Understanding of culturally safe and inclusive practice
- Interest in early intervention and brief therapeutic approaches
