Insurance Verification Specialist

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance for new patients, including coverage, co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles
• Assist with pre-authorization of inpatient treatments with insurance companies
• Connect patients with subsidized or discounted coverage options when eligible
• Verify required referrals by contacting referring physician offices
• Communicate with co-workers and update patient chart notes in real time
• Create documentation and input data into EMR/EHR systems including AMD, MDI, and Practice Plus
• Perform other administrative duties as needed

Requirements

• Proficiency with Google, Microsoft Office, Teams, and data management systems
• Ability to master ophthalmology and retina terminology
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills
• Previous experience in a medical office, insurance, or administration

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with health insurance verification and physician referral tracking
• Bilingual in Spanish for inbound and outbound calls
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
