Insurance SME - Policy & Claims Labeling

Responsibilities

• Annotate insurance documents to help train machine learning models for policy interpretation and claims analysis
• Locate and annotate limits structures within excess policies
• Produce structured conclusions regarding how coverage responds to specific scenarios based on insuring agreements and exclusions
• Perform claim triage labeling, including determining coverage triggers, assessing liability strength, interpreting litigation stages, and annotating damages
• Review and evaluate AI-generated outputs to develop quality rubrics and benchmarks

Requirements

• Must be based in the USA
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in excess and specialty (E&S) insurance (5+ years strongly preferred)
• Professional experience in underwriting, brokerage, claims, or coverage counsel
• Proven experience with General Liability, Professional Liability, or other casualty/specialty lines
• Strong written communication skills for producing structured written outputs
• Ability to interpret complex policy structures and render accurate coverage conclusions

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in AI/ML data labeling, legal document review, or expert annotation work
• Familiarity with ISO forms, manuscript endorsements, and layered program structures
• Experience with primary and excess GL, professional lines (E&O, D&O, Cyber), or environmental policies
• Based in the San Francisco Bay Area for optional in-person collaboration
