About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily audits of patient health records to ensure financial accuracy and complete treatment documentation
  • Prepare and generate insurance claims for both hard copy and electronic batch submission
  • Respond to insurance company requests for additional information or documentation to resolve pending claims
  • Post and allocate insurance payments accurately based on explanations of benefits
  • Generate and review accounts receivable reports to determine write-offs, adjustments, and patient responsibility
  • Identify, audit, and refer delinquent accounts for collections
  • Provide guidance to students, residents, and faculty regarding compliant CDT coding and insurance regulations
  • Collaborate with internal and external clinics to establish efficient billing procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three consecutive years of insurance billing and payment allocation experience in a high-volume dental setting
  • Three years of customer service and/or patient relations experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of private dental/medical insurance billing or general accounting procedures
  • Intermediate level dental terminology and treatment planning knowledge
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) software
  • Experience processing public dental insurance claims
  • Vocational or specialized training in the dental field
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting
