About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform daily audits of patient health records to ensure financial accuracy and complete treatment documentation
- Prepare and generate insurance claims for both hard copy and electronic batch submission
- Respond to insurance company requests for additional information or documentation to resolve pending claims
- Post and allocate insurance payments accurately based on explanations of benefits
- Generate and review accounts receivable reports to determine write-offs, adjustments, and patient responsibility
- Identify, audit, and refer delinquent accounts for collections
- Provide guidance to students, residents, and faculty regarding compliant CDT coding and insurance regulations
- Collaborate with internal and external clinics to establish efficient billing procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three consecutive years of insurance billing and payment allocation experience in a high-volume dental setting
- Three years of customer service and/or patient relations experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of private dental/medical insurance billing or general accounting procedures
- Intermediate level dental terminology and treatment planning knowledge
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) software
- Experience processing public dental insurance claims
- Vocational or specialized training in the dental field
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting
