Instrumentation Service Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and qualify advanced laboratory instruments and automation systems.
• Lead root cause investigations for equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibrations in accordance with service policies.
• Maintain accurate service records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and regulatory requirements (OSHA, FDA, ISO, CLIA).
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior technicians and metrology associates.
• Coordinate day-to-day department workflow, manage schedules, and ensure appropriate service coverage.
• Author and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment service and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, and Lab Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience as specified in the job description).
• 3+ years of relevant technical experience.
• 2+ years of experience supporting the administration and execution of a service program.
• Proven experience mentoring junior staff.
• Proficiency in interpreting electrical circuits, diagrams, and mechanical assembly drawings.
• Hands-on experience with electrical measurement tools such as multi-meters.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and mobile devices/tablets.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and travel 10-20% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with Quality Systems and regulatory compliance (FDA, CLIA, ISO, etc.).
• Experience operating and troubleshooting complex laboratory equipment such as liquid handling robots or centrifuges.
• Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) or Digital Pathology Imaging.
• Experience working in a Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) environment.
• Knowledge of control systems, robotics, and custom automation.
