Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight for specific project areas to ensure technical accuracy
• Lead complex engineering assignments and provide guidance to other engineers and designers
• Analyze and recommend technical solutions for problems of advanced complexity
• Develop and review specifications, design criteria, and control systems narrative specifications
• Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and sizing for control valves, relief valves, and instrumentation
• Coordinate technical issues with project management, vendors, and clients
• Support equipment procurement, technical bid evaluations, and vendor submittal reviews
• Provide technical support for construction administration, including RFIs and field changes
• Manage project scope, cost, schedules, and material forecasting

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Control Systems, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
• Minimum 15 years of related work experience
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
• Extensive experience in I&C design, including PLC, DCS, HMI, and network configuration
• Proficiency in Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)
• Experience with EPC services on large industrial projects
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience with nuclear facilities under ASME NQA requirements
• Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD and Bentley MicroStation
• Experience with Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), HAZOP, and SIL verification
• Experience in commissioning and startup of DCS, PLC, and SIS
