Instrumentation Calibration Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair emission-related components, including building electrical cables and modifying breakout boxes
• Calibrate and maintain emission testing instrumentation such as smoke meters, opacity meters, and fuel flow meters
• Support development and durability testing within an engine dynamometer facility
• Verify the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and systems
• Hook up instrumentation, diagnose problems, and conduct tests using tools like pressure transducers, torque meters, and thermocouples
• Interface with technologists, engineers, and supervisors regarding new test procedures and equipment updates

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Minimum of two years of related experience or vocational training
• Knowledge of automotive technology and electronic troubleshooting
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and flow charts

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree in automotive technology or an electronics-related field
• Experience with engines/powertrain dynamometer testing
• Experience with Horiba gas analyzer calibration and exhaust sample flow
• Proficiency using DMMs, O-Scopes, and other electronic testing devices
• Familiarity with automotive test environment instrumentation (thermocouples, accelerometers, etc.)
