About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, repairs, and calibrations on scientific instruments.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and coordinate with manufacturers or third-party services for complex repairs.
  • Maintain equipment inventory databases, including repair histories, costs, and warranty information.
  • Monitor freezer farms and shared equipment rooms to ensure safe and appropriate usage.
  • Manage chemical storage, labeling, and room safety checks, including mold monitoring in cold storage.
  • Coordinate the relocation, decommissioning, and redeployment of scientific equipment following company policy.
  • Provide basic training and support to equipment users to ensure safe operation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred).
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • General understanding of electrical circuitry, electronics, and/or mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in using both Mac and PC, including software like Word, Excel, and Data Management Systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks involving heavy or bulky equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-service oriented attitude.
