About the role

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and resolve failures in enterprise laboratory instruments and automation systems.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and escalate complex service issues to minimize operational downtime.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and calibrations to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
  • Document all service activities accurately in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and regulatory standards (OSHA, FDA, ISO, CLIA).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support troubleshooting and project execution.
  • Support process improvements by drafting or revising SOPs and optimizing workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Electronics; or an Associate degree with 2 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience interpreting mechanical parts and assembly drawings.
  • Experience working with electrical circuits and diagrams.
  • Proficiency with electrical measurement tools such as multi-meters and analyzers.
  • Ability to work onsite in Madison, WI, including potential nights, weekends, and overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with FANUC robot programming.
  • Experience performing robot maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Experience with robot setup, commissioning, and startup.
  • Experience working with automated manufacturing cells (assembly, welding, palletizing, or material handling).
  • Knowledge of robot I/O configuration and integration.
