About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach in-person social work courses within the BSW program, typically four 3-credit hour courses per semester
- Provide high-quality undergraduate instruction using evidence-based practices
- Advise students and participate in departmental, college, and university service
- Mentor students and support their professional development in the field of social work
- Contribute to an environment of inclusive excellence through teaching and collaborative activities
Requirements
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program (or a CASWE-accredited degree recognized through an MOU with CSWE)
- At least two years of post-MSW degree practice experience in social work
- Experience teaching or training in social work or a related field, including college-level instruction or community-based teaching/supervision
- Ability to teach core courses including Interviewing Skills, Power/Oppression, Generalist Practice, Social Policy, and Internship
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience facilitating experiential and community-engaged learning (e.g., migration, displacement, social/economic/environmental justice, or community health)
- Specialized expertise in a specific practice area such as Public Health, Mental Health, Policy Practice, or Gerontology
- Familiarity with Portland-area human services and community-based organizations
