Instructor of Religion

Responsibilities

• Teach approximately 4 undergraduate courses per semester, including subjects such as Theology, Bible, World Religions, and Ministry.
• Develop and implement project-based curricula and syllabi that align with industry standards and institutional guidelines.
• Provide academic and career advising to students, including guidance on internships and professional pathways.
• Utilize various modes of instruction, including in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
• Participate in university shared governance by serving on departmental and university-wide committees.
• Engage in continuous scholarship, professional development, and program assessment for accreditation purposes.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Religion, Religious Studies, Theology, Bible, Master of Divinity, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the specific subject area.
• Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching or significant potential for high-quality instruction.
• Documented commitment to the history, culture, and traditions of a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard or Canvas.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse student and staff populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in an assigned teaching area.
• Experience translating current ministry trends into a classroom setting.
