Middlebury College’s Summer German School is a designated AATG German Center of Excellence. Its unique 7-week program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction, where students and faculty engage in reading, writing, and speaking exclusively in German.
Responsibilities
- Provide rigorous daily classroom instruction in German language and culture
- Actively engage in teaching, dining, residing, and recreational activities with students
- Participate in a collaborative team-teaching environment
- Maintain a German-only immersion environment for students
Requirements
- Ph.D. in German Studies or German Applied Linguistics/Second Language Acquisition (or ABD under certain circumstances)
- Native or near-native proficiency in German
- Formal training in second language pedagogy
- At least two years of higher education teaching experience in the United States
- Experience teaching students of diverse learning backgrounds
- Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
