About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and laboratory teaching for the Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology Program.
  • Develop and review syllabi, textbooks, and teaching methods to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional mission.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical records for students and participate in student advising regarding clinical practice.
  • Evaluate programmatic outcomes and work toward student success and retention.
  • Support program recruitment, public relations, and marketing activities.
  • Perform local travel to clinics where students are completing externships.
  • Serve on committees and assume special responsibilities as assigned by the Dean or Program Director.

Requirements

  • Current New York State licensed Veterinary Technologist or a licensed DVM.
  • Teaching experience in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program at the junior or senior college level.
  • Three or more years of experience as a veterinary technologist in a clinical or research setting.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to obtain all continuing education required to maintain New York State licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree completed or currently in progress.
  • Additional NAVTA’s VTS specialty certifications.
  • Experience supervising other technicians or student externs.
