About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom and laboratory teaching for the Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology Program.
- Develop and review syllabi, textbooks, and teaching methods to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional mission.
- Maintain up-to-date clinical records for students and participate in student advising regarding clinical practice.
- Evaluate programmatic outcomes and work toward student success and retention.
- Support program recruitment, public relations, and marketing activities.
- Perform local travel to clinics where students are completing externships.
- Serve on committees and assume special responsibilities as assigned by the Dean or Program Director.
Requirements
- Current New York State licensed Veterinary Technologist or a licensed DVM.
- Teaching experience in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program at the junior or senior college level.
- Three or more years of experience as a veterinary technologist in a clinical or research setting.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology (or equivalent experience).
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to obtain all continuing education required to maintain New York State licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree completed or currently in progress.
- Additional NAVTA’s VTS specialty certifications.
- Experience supervising other technicians or student externs.
