About the role

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Wind Ensemble and Thresher Sound (indoor athletic/marching band)
  • Teach conducting, music education methods, and techniques courses
  • Recruit talented major and non-major instrumental students to the music program
  • Develop relationships with music educators throughout the region
  • Provide academic advising and participate in faculty governance
  • Supervise and mentor students through the college’s Employment Experiences program
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Bethel College

Requirements

  • MM or MMEd degree required
  • Demonstrated experience leading instrumental ensembles
  • Qualifications to teach music education courses
  • Proven history of successful recruiting at the college level
  • Strong interest in teaching and working with liberal arts students

Preferred Qualifications

  • DMA or Ph.D. in music
  • Teaching experience in courses that support the music major
  • Expertise in music technology or General Education courses
