About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach ground school courses including private, instrument, and commercial certifications
- Instruct on subjects such as aviation meteorology, aircraft systems, aerodynamics, propulsion, and human factors
- Develop and update course materials to align with FAA regulations and industry best practices
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students pursuing aviation careers
- Engage in research, professional development, and service activities to advance the program
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees
- Maintain strict compliance with FAA regulations and university policies
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Science, Business, or Education
- Active FAA certifications (CFI, CFII, or Advanced Ground Instructor)
- Comprehensive knowledge of FAA regulations and procedures
- Proven experience in ground instruction
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of college-level teaching experience or experience in a Part 141/61 flight school
- Industry experience as a commercial pilot, airline transport pilot (ATP), or in a related aviation field
- Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes
