Instructor and Director, Student Research

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of the medical student research program and training for students in research.
• Develop and deliver lectures and workshops to train preclinical and university-wide students in research methodologies.
• Mentor medical students (M1-M4) in research design, project implementation, data analysis, scientific writing, and presentation preparation.
• Manage research opportunities that promote student scholarly activity and the dissemination of findings.
• Facilitate student participation in institutional research symposia and external scientific meetings, including abstract and poster submissions.
• Collaborate with COM Student Affairs and the Office of the Vice President for Research to advise students on research opportunities.
• Participate in college and university committees and engage with state and national professional organizations.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in a health-related field (M.D., D.O., or Ph.D.).
• Eligibility for faculty appointment at the Instructor level.
• Demonstrated experience conducting and disseminating scholarly research.
• Proven experience mentoring medical students in research and scholarly activities.
• Experience helping students navigate the peer review and publication processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an academic setting.
