About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage and teach the Laser Material Processing (LMP) curriculum using a learner-centered approach.
  • Deliver in-person and online classroom instruction incorporating active learning strategies.
  • Perform curriculum and course development to meet student and industry needs.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laser systems, including Trumpf laser systems, IPG LightWELD handheld welders, Boss Laser flatbeds, and Xact Metal 3D printers.
  • Provide student academic advising and assessment of student learning.
  • Maintain strong relationships with subject matter experts and industry partners.
  • Participate in college-wide initiatives, institutional meetings, and accreditation processes.
  • Assist in the articulation of courses and programs with secondary and post-secondary institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Applied Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in the fundamentals of laser processing.
  • Knowledge of additive and subtractive manufacturing processes using lasers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on laser systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and technology skills with the ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Flexibility to teach during both day and evening hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant engineering or physics field.
  • Experience developing industry-aligned training and curriculum.
  • Proven experience operating and maintaining advanced laser systems.
