About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and reporting activities to support university strategic goals and institutional effectiveness.
  • Extract, clean, and validate institutional datasets from enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, AWS Redshift, and Salesforce.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards to provide actionable insights for campus stakeholders.
  • Perform descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, including predictive modeling for enrollment and retention trends.
  • Analyze student retention and graduation trends at undergraduate and graduate levels to provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and administrative units to provide methodological expertise and data support.
  • Coordinate the preparation of official reports for the UMass President’s Office and other recurring institutional outputs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, statistics, data science, social science, public policy, computer science, or a related field, with 3+ years of educational research experience.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience in educational research.
  • Proficiency in data management and statistical analysis tools such as SQL, SAS, Stata, or Python.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining dashboards in Tableau or a similar visualization platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and report both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting findings to leadership and committees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working within a higher education setting.
  • Experience with enterprise data systems like PeopleSoft, Salesforce, or Slate.
