About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and reporting activities to support university strategic goals and institutional effectiveness.
- Extract, clean, and validate institutional datasets from enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft, AWS Redshift, and Salesforce.
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards to provide actionable insights for campus stakeholders.
- Perform descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, including predictive modeling for enrollment and retention trends.
- Analyze student retention and graduation trends at undergraduate and graduate levels to provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Collaborate with academic departments and administrative units to provide methodological expertise and data support.
- Coordinate the preparation of official reports for the UMass President’s Office and other recurring institutional outputs.
Requirements
- Master's degree in education, statistics, data science, social science, public policy, computer science, or a related field, with 3+ years of educational research experience.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5+ years of experience in educational research.
- Proficiency in data management and statistical analysis tools such as SQL, SAS, Stata, or Python.
- Proven experience building and maintaining dashboards in Tableau or a similar visualization platform.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and report both quantitative and qualitative data.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting findings to leadership and committees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working within a higher education setting.
- Experience with enterprise data systems like PeopleSoft, Salesforce, or Slate.
