About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct field enforcement, undercover inspections, and participate in multi-agency enforcement actions
- Enforce laws and regulations relating to weights and measures through testing, sealing, condemning, or confiscating devices
- Inspect and investigate trade practices to detect and eliminate consumer deception
- Complete reports on complaints, violations, and special inspections using tablets and computers
- Prepare summonses and testify at hearings
- Maintain professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service
Requirements
- High school diploma and four years of experience conducting investigations or inspections for a consumer or worker protection agency, OR
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, OR
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience
- Valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License
- Ability to lift weights, walk, use mass transit, and climb stairs
