Inspector

Responsibilities

• Conduct field enforcement, undercover inspections, and participate in multi-agency enforcement actions
• Enforce laws and regulations relating to weights and measures through testing, sealing, condemning, or confiscating devices
• Inspect and investigate trade practices to detect and eliminate consumer deception
• Complete reports on complaints, violations, and special inspections using tablets and computers
• Prepare summonses and testify at hearings
• Maintain professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service

Requirements

• High school diploma and four years of experience conducting investigations or inspections for a consumer or worker protection agency, OR
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, OR
• A satisfactory combination of education and experience
• Valid New York State Motor Vehicle Driver License
• Ability to lift weights, walk, use mass transit, and climb stairs
