About the Company

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits. HRA’s Office of Police Operations (OPO) manages uniformed Peace Officers and contracted security guards to protect the safety of employees, clients, and agency assets.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day management of field security forces, including direct supervision of Lieutenants and Captains
• Perform on-site inspections to observe security monitoring and evaluate personnel effectiveness
• Direct and oversee investigations of incidents and security risk assessments
• Establish goals, objectives, and priorities regarding security maintenance and incident deterrence
• Advise the Chief of Patrol Operations on significant security issues and recommendations
• Assist in determining personnel needs and ensuring proper scheduling and deployment
• Advise on the Workplace Violence Prevention Program and participate in yearly reviews
• Serve as a liaison to the New York City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies
• Perform duties of the Chief of Patrol Operations in their absence

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Six years of full-time experience in a protection or security program
• At least eighteen months of experience in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity, or in supervising security personnel
