Insect Care Giver

Responsibilities

• Prepare and provide food for butterflies and other insects according to established protocols
• Monitor insect feeding behaviors and adjust diets as necessary
• Conduct daily health checks on insect populations and report concerns to senior staff
• Clean and maintain insect habitats to ensure a hygienic and suitable environment
• Assist in monitoring and supporting all stages of insect life cycles, from eggs to adults
• Maintain accurate records of feeding, health checks, and habitat maintenance
• Provide information to visitors regarding insect biology and conservation
• Collaborate with biologists and horticulturists to support breeding and research programs

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience in animal or insect care, preferably in a zoo or similar setting
• Basic knowledge of insect biology and husbandry practices
• Strong attention to detail and observational skills
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform manual labor
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform tasks in both controlled and outdoor settings
• Ability to work a full-time schedule, including weekends and holidays
