Inpatient Unit Clerk

Responsibilities

• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients on one or more inpatient units
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff
• Answer patient calls professionally and process physician orders and referrals
• Respond to emergent situations in a calm and professional manner
• Record and coordinate patient appointments, tests, and census information
• Procure necessary supplies, equipment, and services for patients
• Assist in training new unit clerks and orienting staff to new policies

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to complete a 4-week training program (including specific day shift hours)
• Ability to stand or walk infrequently

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an inpatient clerk in a medical setting
• Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital policies
• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
• Experience with data entry and computer systems
• Proven ability to manage details with high accuracy
