Inpatient Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, evidence-based care to clients in the inpatient unit
• Coordinate with treatment teams to create, implement, and assess progress of treatment plans
• Administer, document, and monitor the effects of medications as ordered by providers
• Assess and monitor client symptoms and share information with the clinical team
• Provide direct crisis support interventions using de-escalation skills
• Promote a calm, safe, and trauma-informed environment for all clients
• Provide patient education regarding general wellness, recovery, and medication management
• Support and aid mental health technician staff in their duties and responsibilities
• Act as a charge nurse to provide direct supervision of nursing staff when required

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Science of Nursing (ASN)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Indiana
• Knowledge of psychiatric medication administration and side effects
• Strong therapeutic communication skills
• Proficiency in crisis de-escalation techniques
• Organizational and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in mental health settings
• At least 1 year of experience in a charge nurse role
