About the Company

fab2 is an early-stage hardware startup that designs and builds the hardware and software needed to make chips, including the fabs, tools, and components themselves. Founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller, the team focuses on iterating to the limits of what is possible in semiconductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve infrastructure-as-code tooling for multi-environment deployments
  • Manage and maintain a fleet of on-premises servers
  • Monitor system performance and health across production workloads
  • Design and implement alerting systems
  • Build automation to reduce toil and improve efficiency
  • Implement secure secret management
  • Debug production issues across the stack
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent skill
  • Strong programming skills in Rust, Go, or systems-oriented languages
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking, and distributed systems
  • Experience building non-trivial infrastructure, automation, or tooling projects
  • A portfolio or GitHub demonstrating software engineering excellence
  • Interest in systems reliability, observability, or performance optimization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with configuration or fleet management at scale
  • Background in monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack
  • Familiarity with performance profiling and capacity planning
  • Experience with database administration or disaster recovery
  • Exposure to secret management systems like Vault or SOPS
