Infrastructure Engineer - Virtualization

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain large-scale virtualization environments using Proxmox and/or KVM-based systems
• Manage the full lifecycle of virtual machines, including provisioning, configuration, migration, and decommissioning
• Monitor platform health and respond to host failures, VM performance degradation, and resource contention
• Troubleshoot issues across hypervisors, guest operating systems, storage, and networking layers
• Execute infrastructure changes such as cluster expansions, host maintenance, and configuration updates
• Use automation tools to standardize deployments and improve operational consistency
• Collaborate with DevOps, Network, and Storage engineering teams
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and the creation of operational runbooks

Requirements

• 4–7+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems, or platform operations
• Hands-on experience with Linux-based virtualization platforms (KVM/QEMU, Proxmox, or VMware)
• Strong Linux systems knowledge, including process management, networking, and filesystem management
• Proven ability to troubleshoot CPU/memory contention, disk I/O bottlenecks, and network performance
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible
• Familiarity with VM lifecycle management and resource allocation
• Ability to work effectively during production incidents

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating infrastructure at scale (100+ hosts)
• Familiarity with GPU-based systems, high-performance workloads, and NUMA awareness
• Exposure to high-throughput networking (bonding, VLANs, SR-IOV) and distributed storage
• Experience working alongside Kubernetes or container platforms
• Experience in cloud or CSP environments
