Infrastructure Engineer

About the Company

Northwood is a modern space infrastructure company bringing the benefits of space to the masses through advanced communications technology. We are building a global network of phased array ground stations that enable real-time, reliable communication for satellite missions such as national security, global connectivity, and disaster response.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate components of the infrastructure stack including CI/CD, app platform, cloud/IaC, networking, observability, and security tooling
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps
• Carry on-call duties and handle incidents to resolution independently
• Run post-incident reviews and write technical documentation, design docs, and runbooks
• Partner with security and compliance teams on controls implementation
• Automate manual toil and collaborate across infra, product, and ground station operations

Requirements

• 3-5 years of production infrastructure experience (SRE, DevOps, platform, network, or systems engineering)
• Competence in Linux, networking fundamentals, AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of production systems
• Experience with on-call rotations in production environments
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages for automation
• Strong technical writing skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance
• Must meet ITAR compliance requirements (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual)

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep expertise in Networking (FortiGate, BGP, IPsec, WireGuard)
• Security engineering (Vault, Okta, IAM, SIEM)
• Compliance implementation (CMMC, FedRAMP, NIST 800-171, ITAR)
• Observability at scale (VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, Grafana, Vector, Loki)
• App platform management (EKS, k3s, ArgoCD)
• Cloud architecture (multi-account AWS, GovCloud, Cloudflare)
• On-prem and hardware-adjacent operations in remote environments
