About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement the expansion and enhancement of IT networks independently
- Design and review complex virtual computing and storage infrastructure
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and test highly complex systems
- Develop and update architectural frameworks for confidential IT systems
- Advise on the cost, feasibility, and impact of various implementation solutions
- Develop and edit standard operating procedures for IT services
- Lead and plan IT projects and monitor project accounts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five years of experience in a network and systems administrator capacity within a complex, heterogeneous environment
- Advanced experience with Linux and Windows servers, including network planning and design
- Proven experience with virtualized environments, including VDI and containers
- Experience with backup and storage administration, configuration, and troubleshooting
- In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies, networking, and security
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with research computing support in an academic environment
- Experience with Data Centre IT operations
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or the SentinelOne Security Platform
- Experience with Foundry, Aruba, or HP network devices
- Familiarity with University governance and policies
