Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to protect information systems.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security threats and evaluate the impact of IT environment changes.
• Ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, DoD regulations, and other relevant government standards.
• Perform system patching in response to IAVAs and other security findings.
• Implement continuous monitoring processes using tools like SIEM to detect and respond to vulnerabilities.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of security policies, procedures, and incident reports.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and integrate secure information systems.
• Oversee the efforts of less senior staff and manage security efforts for specific job assignments.

Requirements

• Active Top-Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience, including 2-5 years in an ISSO role.
• At least 3 years of experience in a Special Access Program (SAP) or SCI environment within the last 5 years.
• Proficiency with Windows, Linux, and/or VMware administration.
• Experience with DISA STIG implementation, RMF compliance, and vulnerability assessment tools (Nessus, Splunk, HBSS).
• Strong understanding of network, application, and endpoint security principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional).
• Advanced scripting skills for task automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Experience working within a DoD program or product acquisition office.
