Infection Control Nurse

Responsibilities

• Implement and evaluate the Statewide Infection Control Program within correctional facilities
• Identify and assess inmates with a primary focus on HIV/AIDS diagnosed individuals and high-risk populations
• Plan and coordinate inmate access to primary medical care, including scheduling routine tests and managing labs/medications under MD supervision
• Provide HIV pre- and post-testing counseling and education
• Assist in developing and updating the Statewide Quality Improvement Program for Infection Control
• Implement surveillance programs to monitor infection control policies, such as the management of contaminated needles and medical supplies
• Serve as a primary source of information regarding infectious disease and infection control issues for the site

Requirements

• RN license to practice in the State of New Jersey
• 2 years of documented clinical nursing experience
• Current CPR Certification
• Computer literacy
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to travel between sites (Newark and Clinton, NJ)
• Physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and lift/carry up to 50 pounds

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
