Industrial Millwright Technician

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical systems to ensure production efficiency and safety
• Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work requirements
• Use shop equipment, including manual lathes and mills, to fabricate, weld, grind, and file machinery parts
• Install, fit, align, and secure full machines or mechanical assemblies and components
• Service hydraulic systems and perform routine machine maintenance
• Use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, height gages, and indicators to verify parts meet requirements
• Construct and install equipment including guards, shafting, conveyors, and tram rails
• Collaborate with other trades and vendors on coordinated maintenance tasks

Requirements

• High School Diploma, apprenticeship, and/or vocational school/technology certificate
• Minimum of 5 years of millwright experience in a manufacturing environment
• Expertise in mechanical fitting, precision alignment, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Proficiency in basic welding and fabrication
• Ability to read blueprints and produce precision parts from mechanical drawings
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
• Competence with CMMS and basic computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certificate or apprenticeship in Millwright/Industrial Maintenance
• Experience with packaging, presses, extrusion, or continuous processing equipment
• Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools and reliability practices
• Basic electrical familiarity (motors, sensors, VFDs)
• Forklift or aerial lift certification
