Industrial Hygiene Technician

Responsibilities

• Support the Industrial Hygienist with the implementation and execution of the Industrial Hygiene Program.
• Perform workplace surveys including heat stress monitoring, noise surveys, chemical exposure, lighting, and ergonomic studies.
• Ensure calibration and operability of all industrial hygiene instrumentation and maintain inventory of sampling consumables.
• Prepare sampling media and manage the dispatch of samples to external analytical facilities.
• Support the Respiratory Protection Program, including breathing air compressor operation, respirator fit testing, and equipment inspections.
• Provide day-to-day support for plant personnel and contractors through PPE assessments, job safety analyses, and hazard assessments.
• Participate in compliance audits and conduct formal audits on the IH program.

Requirements

• Diploma in Environmental Science, Natural Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) certification or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in an industrial hygiene function within the petrochemical, refining, fertilizer, or chemical industry.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and similar consensus standards governing industrial hygiene.
• Proficiency in using direct reading instrumentation such as sound level meters, sampling pumps, multi-gas monitors, Lux meters, and PIDs.
• Ability to perform both qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience conducting formal compliance audits.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment in a high-stakes industrial setting.
