About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an audit-ready inventory of lab infrastructure attributes, including power, cooling, and key constraints.
  • Perform site walks and technical due diligence to validate capacity and identify potential risks or upgrade needs.
  • Develop repeatable infrastructure profiles and load templates to enable consistent planning and estimates.
  • Evaluate candidate spaces through trade studies (reuse, upgrade, or new build) and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Model demand versus capacity to identify bottlenecks and translate forecasted demand into roadmap triggers.
  • Design and optimize engineering lab layouts, workflows, and equipment flows to improve productivity and safety.
  • Apply AI/ML techniques to lab operations data for predictive modeling, demand forecasting, and space planning.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to enhance lab performance and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in lab, facilities, critical environments, or infrastructure planning.
  • Working knowledge of building electrical distribution and cooling concepts, such as heat-load estimation and airflow constraints.
  • Experience performing site assessments and translating technical findings into feasibility recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel-based modeling and structured datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional stakeholder engagement and executive-level reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting R&D or specialty labs, such as high-density compute environments.
  • Proficiency with reporting and analytics tools like Power BI or querying languages like SQL; Python experience is a plus.
  • Experience applying AI/ML (including generative AI) for data quality, forecasting, or decision-support automation.
  • Familiarity with layout tools such as AutoCAD or Visio.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
