Industrial Backpack Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform vegetation treatment within designated areas using backpack spray equipment
• Maintain spray packs, ensuring nozzles remain clean and hoses are managed to avoid snags
• Walk through logged areas while actively pumping the backpack and operating the spray wand
• Maintain sufficient pressure to achieve consistent and effective coverage
• Layout boundaries and space off flagged areas and riparian zones
• Follow directions from supervisors, crew leaders, and mixers
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols
• Travel frequently to assigned work areas across large geographic regions

Requirements

• Physical ability to perform a highly demanding role, including carrying 50+ pounds on your back
• Ability to walk rapidly over debris and uneven terrain
• Capacity for repeated physical motions, including pumping and swinging the spray arm
• Strong map reading skills and decision-making abilities
• Willingness to work, live, and enjoy remote settings
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and adapt to changing environments
• Commitment to the season through at least the end of September
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug testing for safety-sensitive positions

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid S100/S100A certification or equivalent
