Industrial Backpack Crew Leader

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a field crew in executing integrated vegetation management tasks
• Assign daily tasks to crew members to ensure project goals are met on time and according to safety guidelines
• Oversee the identification, assessment, and treatment of invasive plant species using chemical and mechanical controls
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Conduct regular safety meetings and on-site training sessions for the crew
• Maintain accurate records of management activities, including areas treated and herbicides applied
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to communicate progress and address project challenges
• Layout boundaries and space off flagged riparian areas

Requirements

• 2-3 years of Vegetation Management experience
• Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License and a current Driver’s Abstract
• Ability to work outdoors and away from home for scheduled periods
• Strong map reading skills
• Physical ability to perform demanding outdoor work
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry, or a related field
• Previous experience in a supervisory role
• Experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks on various road conditions
• Valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification
• Valid S100/S100A certification
• Experience working with chainsaws
