Indirect Tax Lead

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end global indirect tax compliance cycle, including filings, payments, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Manage multi-jurisdiction tax compliance, including US sales & use tax and international VAT/GST
• Handle tax engine configurations and maintain tax codes within platforms like Stripe
• Lead audit defense and manage exemption certificates
• Partner with Finance, Legal, and Product teams on product taxability, invoicing requirements, and customer-facing tax inquiries
• Build scalable processes for new market launches and e-invoicing mandates

Requirements

• Deep expertise in US sales & use tax, including multi-state compliance, nexus analysis, and product taxability for SaaS or digital products
• Working knowledge of international VAT/GST compliance
• Proven experience with end-to-end ownership of multi-jurisdiction tax compliance and audits
• Strong systems and data skills, specifically with billing platforms or tax engines such as Stripe Tax, Avalara, or Vertex
• Ability to operate autonomously as the sole indirect tax specialist in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing US indirect tax audits (state sales tax or gross receipts)
• Experience with e-invoicing mandates or Digital Services Tax (DST) regimes
• Experience leading tax engine implementations or supporting new market launches
