About the role
Responsibilities
- Chair multi-agency Looked After Children (LAC) reviews and Child Protection (CP) conferences within statutory timescales
- Implement the Signs of Safety practice approach to create robust safety plans
- Advocate for children's views through innovative mechanisms and pre-proceedings meetings
- Monitor local authority performance through case auditing and quality assurance
- Lead conflict resolution meetings and utilize the Dispute Resolution Framework
- Make final child-centered decisions at conferences and reviews
- Undertake statutory Regulation 33 visits to specific children's homes to monitor welfare
Requirements
- Social Work England Registration
- Recognized professional Social Work qualification
- Significant post-qualified experience at a senior level
- Experience in an IRO or Child Protection chairing capacity
- Deep understanding of the Signs of Safety framework
- Expert knowledge of legislation governing Looked After Children and Child Protection
- Strong leadership and ability to challenge professional practice
