Independent Non-Executive Director

Responsibilities

• Provide non-executive oversight and constructive challenge for both Smarkets Board of Trade Exchange LLC and Smarkets Board of Trade Clearing LLC
• Oversee regulatory compliance, market integrity, risk management, and operational resilience
• Monitor the exchange's regulatory programme, including surveillance, investigations, and rule enforcement
• Oversee the clearinghouse’s risk management framework, settlement, collateralisation models, and default management
• Serve on or chair various committees, such as the Regulatory Oversight Committee, Disciplinary Panel, and Membership Committee
• Exercise judgment consistent with the public interest and regulatory obligations

Requirements

• At least 10 years of relevant senior experience in regulated financial markets
• Deep expertise in regulated exchanges, clearinghouses, or financial market infrastructure
• Strong background in regulatory, compliance, legal, or surveillance functions
• Proven experience in financial services governance or board-level service
• Expertise in enterprise risk, cybersecurity, or operational resilience
• Ability to satisfy both DCM Public Director and DCO Independent Director independence standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with derivatives, event contracts, or market operations
• Background in audit, finance, or controls oversight
• Experience in public policy or public-interest governance
