About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead a self-contained 12:1:1 classroom for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade students with IEPs
- Manage and partner with Assistant Teachers and Paraprofessionals to deliver instruction
- Collaborate with grade teams and instructional leadership to develop curriculum and track student progress
- Manage IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans for all scholars
- Create a positive, supportive, and restorative classroom culture
- Implement multiple teaching modalities for effective differentiation and centers-based learning
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience as a lead classroom or special education teacher
- Bachelor's Degree or higher
- New York State teaching certification for Students With Disabilities (required)
- Experience writing and managing IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans
- Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or CPI is highly preferred
- Experience implementing Life Skills Instruction and Community Based Education
- Experience working with students with specific intellectual and behavioral needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish (speaking, writing, and understanding)
- Experience in a self-contained 12:1:1 setting
