About the role
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and manage the start-up and shut-down of chemical waste incineration and associated power plant equipment.
- Make control panel adjustments to maintain permit parameters and ensure equipment operates within standard conditions.
- Respond to alarms and direct field personnel to correct emergency conditions while maintaining normal operations.
- Maintain accurate logbook entries, including burn plans, downtime logs, and kiln data to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and report discrepancies in daily burn plans to prevent operational inefficiencies or backlogs.
- Identify and report maintenance needs and assist in the maintenance process to keep equipment in good working order.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area by monitoring for spills, leaks, or potential fire hazards.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- 5 years of experience in the hazardous waste industry or power plant control room operations.
- Valid Arkansas Boiler License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain respirator certification and fit test compliance.
- Completion of Emergency Response Team Training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree with an emphasis in environmental skills.
- Proficiency in handling forklifts, backhoes, and other heavy equipment.
- Experience with a variety of industrial tools.
