About the role

Responsibilities

  • Deliver weekly computer science and AI lessons using project-based curriculum to a diverse group of high school students
  • Create an inclusive, community-based classroom culture centered on social justice and accountability
  • Prepare and facilitate lessons, adjusting instruction to meet individual student learning needs
  • Foster meaningful relationships with students and grade assessments to ensure progress toward final projects
  • Collaborate with the school’s teacher of record and attend weekly staff meetings
  • Communicate course progress and student success to families and Mission Bit program staff

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching high school-age students in a formal education setting
  • Associate's degree or higher in Education, Computer Science, or a related field (or 2 years of formal classroom experience)
  • Demonstrated competence in Web Design (HTML/CSS) and Python
  • Strong public speaking and communication skills
  • Experience working with diverse groups of individuals
  • Ability to work autonomously and a passion for equity in STEM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project-based learning, asset-based teaching, or culturally relevant teaching
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Tagalog, or Samoan
