Import Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily air and ocean import operations
• Lead, mentor, and support the import team to achieve operational and service excellence
• Ensure all import shipments are processed accurately and in compliance with customs and regulatory requirements
• Monitor shipment status, transit times, and clearance processes to ensure timely delivery
• Manage and resolve operational issues, delays, and customer escalations
• Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, freight agents, customs brokers, and government authorities
• Review and approve import documentation, including bills of lading, airway bills, and commercial invoices
• Ensure accurate job costing, invoicing, and profitability management
• Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality
• Prepare operational reports and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or international trade, specifically with air and ocean imports
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
• Sound knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, and international freight operations
• Strong understanding of Incoterms, shipping documentation, and cargo movement processes
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office applications
• Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
