About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily air and ocean import operations
- Lead, mentor, and support the import team to achieve operational and service excellence
- Ensure all import shipments are processed accurately and in compliance with customs and regulatory requirements
- Monitor shipment status, transit times, and clearance processes to ensure timely delivery
- Manage and resolve operational issues, delays, and customer escalations
- Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, freight agents, customs brokers, and government authorities
- Review and approve import documentation, including bills of lading, airway bills, and commercial invoices
- Ensure accurate job costing, invoicing, and profitability management
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality
- Prepare operational reports and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs)
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or international trade, specifically with air and ocean imports
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
- Sound knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, and international freight operations
- Strong understanding of Incoterms, shipping documentation, and cargo movement processes
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office applications
- Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
